On the satisfied user front, check out Cornerhost
(http://www.cornerhost.com).
Amongst other redeeming features, they host Dive into Python
(http://diveintopython.org) and Michal, our genial host, is currently
writing an idiots guide to developing applications (in Python) for the web
(http://www.webappworkshop.com).
It doesn't mean you have to follow what he does, but its an indicator that
they understand what their customers want.
