A bit of topic...
When reading about Python on 'uncommon plattforms':
python2.2 works fine on NEC SX vector-series running SUPER-UX.
Tested on SX-5 and SX-6, with SUPER-UX 11.0 and 12.0.
Also without shared libraries, with lots of code 
built into the interpreter.
