Why not an embedded version of python?

Maybe it is stupid but I think there should be a version of python
which JUST include the CORE part and can be used in an embedded
system, just like Lua. Lua is not so OO compared to python. And I
think there are still not
many ppl there except these game programmers. But if there is a clean
- tiny version of python we will have another good choice.
One possible way to do is get rid of all the modules and use uClibc to
build the core again. Does anyone have tested it?
