Serial Ports

Hi all,

    I'm still fairly new to Python so forgive me.  I'm hoping someone can
point in the right direction regarding how I would go about accessing a
serial com port from Python.  I'd like to do it mainly under Linux, but
hopefully it will work under windows aswell.

Is it possible?  Can someone point me to some documentation or code samples?
