Just as a small note, Parrot is being developed from the start to work 
with languages besides Perl6, though that understandably is the 
emphasis.  Whether language designers target the Parrot platform is 
their choice.

Already a number of languages are being developed for Parrot.

Jako : C-ish
Cola : C#-type language
Scheme
BASIC
miniperl
And of course ou can always write programs in Parrot Assembly.
