xmlrpclib/python and fault codes

Hi, 
Can anyone out there tell me how to check for a fault
response from an xml-rpc server using the xmlrpclib
python module? I need to detect the fault message and
then attempt to resend the xmlrpc request. I can find
examples written in Perl and Ruby but not python.
