compressing mutiple files by gzip module?

Hi everybody,

Is it possible to compress many files by gzip module? Someone
say gzip do not support to compress mutiple files in python newgroup
article in 2000. Still not supported?

Any simple and rock way to compress mutiple files? Ideas?
