Demo/extend fails in 2.2

is it just my installation where i can't make the Python-2.2/Demo/extend 
example in the source distribution of Python-2.2, or have others the same 
problem?

i tried:

./make_shared

and

./make_static

but both fail to find Makefile.in.pre which should be located in Python-
2.2/Misc but isn't there.

i just downladed the tgz, and did the whole tar xzf Python-2.2.tgz, 
./configure, make, su, make install on my Debian Linux 2.2. the interpreter 
works perfect, its just that demo...
