PYTHONDOCS, or lack thereof...

Hi all - Have just installed Python 2.2 under linux. I go into python, type
'help()' and get the interactive help prompt. Then I try to enter something
like FLOAT and get the message:
Sorry, topic and keyword documentation is not available because the Python
HTML documentation files could not be found. If you have installed them,
please set the environment variable PYTHONDOCS to indicate their location.
I have an environment PYTHONDOCS var set to:
/usr/local/src/python/Python-2.2/Doc/html
...but that didn't help. There doesn't seem to be much html in that directory
anyway. Can anyone provide some clues? Thanks!
- Ross
