Maybe because of a very restricted space for the enviornment data under DOS
(PATH is still a DOS variable, although Winblows can make a use of it). Or
maybe to aviod confusion, since if there are by any chance a few executables
bearing the same name, and they all are in the PATH, only the first one is run.
Or maybe for both reasons :-)
