Live update of prefs for Tkinter applications?

I register every widget I create with the 'redraw yourself' object, which
has a method 'go re-read the options database, and then redraw yourself'.

I am about to change what I have to use Patrick O'Brien's global signal 
dispatcher. http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Cookbook/Python/Recipe/87056.

I am interested in any other approaches that you find.
