I've started to work on one in October, but didn't pursue this. If you
want to continue the work, I'd send you the files. 

Just wrapping sqlite is pretty easy - implementing a Python DB-API 2.0
wrapper around that would be a lot more effort, though I'd try to rip
the DB-API support from another module.
