Doesn't the "directness" mean linearity? -^
Perhaps (tying with another Python thread/digression) you mean that the
mapping {userbase -> usenet} is monotonic?
I'm sure it's not, but perhaps someone can do some studies and draw some
colorful graphs on the topic. :-)
