Python as a substitute of VBA?

Hello,

I am currently working with Microsoft Access as a front end for our
systems with a lot of coding written in VBA. We are about to start the
new system from scratch. I would like to implement the new system as
modular and portable as possible. Does anyone know how practical is this
with python? Is this overkilling?

AFAIK, in order to access python code from VBA, I should follow the
"Quick Start to Server side COM and Python" procedure for each python
class (?!) Is there any easier way to integrate both world? Any pointers?

TIA
