Why is Python popular, while Lisp and Scheme aren't?

        Ah, but that may be it... Python is clean enough to not require an IDE 
per se...

        For me?

        Windows: PythonWin
        Linux:  IDLE /IF/ I expect to need to test snippets in the interactive 
window, et al; VIM for just raw editing.
