Construct a string of as many "%s,..." as you need, substitute it into
the command you pass to .execute():
format = ",".join(["%s"] * len(data[1:]))
command = "INSERT INTO Foo (fieldnames) VALUES (%s)" % format
self.dbh.execute(command, data[1:])
