Then get Bruce Eckel's "Thinking in Python" release 0.1 at
http://www.mindview.net/Books/TIPython .

"a somewhat straightforward partial translation of 
Thinking in Patterns", as Bruce puts it.  It can be
enhanced a lot, sure, but that's why Bruce puts his
books up for download, commentary and feedback.
