Here are the packages on 7.1 that have these files:

  expat
>          libgmp.so.3   is needed by python2-2.1.1-3
  gmp

>          libpanel.so.5   is needed by python2-2.1.1-3
  ncurses
>          libreadline.so.4.1   is needed by python2-2.1.1-3
  readline

Verify that you have these packages and their -devel versions and then rebuild
Python 2.1.1 from:

  ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/rawhide/SRPMS/SRPMS/python2-2.1.1-2.src.rpm
