Dive Into Python is not for newbie programmers.

I would also recommend to you, the book

Core Python Programming by Wesley Chun, if the Learning Python book
isn't enough for you. (I haven't seen the Learning Python book.) But the
Programming Python books is far too advanced for someone just starting
out with the language.
