Using Python in a GIS context

Where did you have your eyes, it is all there:
	www.freegis.org

(BTW: It is all "Free Software" there. Most freeware is _not_ Free
Software.)

You will be able to script GRASS or OSSIM with python to do this.

I am not aware of Free Software approaches towards your goals. 
If you want a Free Software solution you might ask again on the freegis list.
Otherwise comp.infosystems.gis certainly is another good place to ask.
