syslog beeps and logs to console.... sometimes!?

it is the syslog daemon. when it can't write the log for some
reason, it writes to the console. maybe your version
of syslogd is buggy, you could check for updates for your os.

maybe your syslog is not keeping up somehow. you could try rate
limiting logging and see if it changes anything, to further
diagnose the problem. but it's almost certainly not python-related.
