wxPython or Java

I don't know if it is possible in wxPython, but I do know 
that it is tremendously easy in Java. Since you aren't bent 
on using Python, you might want to consider Java. It would 
provide the portability you are looking for. 

Normally I wouldn't recommend Java, but I wrote something 
about a year ago that seems very similar in only a few 
pages of code. If you're interested I can send you the 
source.
