Why no 'elif' in try/except?

While we're hypergeneralising, how about allowing
any sequence of

  keyword1:
    keyword2:
      keyword3:
        ...

be contracted to

  keyword1 keyword2 keyword3... :

e.g.

  if fooble:
     ...
  else:
    while x < 10:
      ...

becomes

  if fooble:
    ...
  else while x < 10:
    ...
