In fact, 'capitalism' in software is just a greedy kind the same.
Everyone, who worked on GPLed software received plenty in return, because
information could be _copied_. If you create proprietary software, you can
buy some tools and can't afford others, maybe more appropriate to the
task. You can not get components easily, etc.

And those, who just use GPLed software are not totally parasites. They are
testers, critics, reviewers, _buyers_ of the books, clients of the
consultant services etc. And all are happy.

What is the reason to turn this into nightmare of serial numbers,
timebombs, shareware notices, hardware keys, one-click patents, etc?!

There was a tax for smoke pipes at some time in the tsarist Russia history
;-) Free software is our atmosphere with enough oxygen for everyone. Why
pollute is with dark and closed things? Microsoft world accuses GPL
of being "viral". That is why they all have germetic suits on their
software ;-)
