Is Python Dead? Long Live Python!

I believe Perl is pre-installed, and I think someone from our Unix administration mentioned one time it was.  It's good to hear Python is on the companion disk, even if the version is out of date.

Python is on the Companion disk. The one I have (late 2000) has Python
1.5.2 only, alas.

Is Perl pre-installed?
