For end-user computing, you may be right.  For back-office computing
I think the risk is way too high.

Umm, yes they would.  Microsoft built a multi-billion dollar empire
on buggy, unreliable software that is "good enough" for consumer-grade problems.
As you point out above "reliable" depends in what context and by what measure
you are working.
