Is Python a Good Choice for Web Programming?

There has been a ton of experience-based discussion of this topic in
this newsgroup over the last few months. Go to
<http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?hl=en&safe=off> and
have at it.

Some brief points:

1) I and many others make a living doing web programming in Python, but
it is much easier to get a job doing it in Java or Perl.

2) Getting started is easy. Search the web for "cgi.py tutorial", or
just read the source.

3) Writing frameworks is so easy that dozens of us have done it; no
one has come up with a best-of-breed a la mod_perl or Tomcat/Jakarta
although Chuck Esterbrook and friends are working hard on one
("Webware").
