How to modify ID3 tags in MP3 files?

Hello,

given that quite some entries in www.CDDB.com contain typos
or plain wrong classifications of individual files and there
seem to be no ways of correcting their database I'm wondering
if the id3 Python script or a variant thereof could also be
used to modify them? 

You're right, probably I could have found out myself by look-
ing into the code, but I've just finished a major hard- and
software system upgrade on my laptop and don't quite have 
the time to spend on that. In any case I'm grateful to some-
one who knows!
