I've just uploaded a new set of Python 2.0 SRPMs to:
ftp://ftp.tummy.com/pub/tummy/RPMS/SRPMS
This is the release that will be going on the February KRUD
(http://www.tummy.com/krud/), so it should be very compatible with RedHat
7.0. You'll want:
python-2.0-2tummy.src.rpm
expat-1.1-3tummy.src.rpm
Changes include:
Builds to /usr/bin/python2 or /usr/bin/python
"try before you buy"
One-line .spec file change between the two.
Better compatibility with RedHat/KRUD 7.0
Expat puts xmlparse.h in /usr/include/expat/xmlparse.h to prevent a
conflict with w3c-libwww-devel.
Builds socket module with SSL support.
Now includes proper bsddb support (Oops, I didn't have db1-devel last time)
Also in that FTP directory are some SRPMs for some Python modules, though the
mx* ones seem to have problems that I need to track down. python-imaging
and Sketch seem to be working well though.
BUILDING SRPMS
Turning an SRPM into a binary RPM is easy. Simply run:
rpm --rebuild expat-1.1-3tummy.src.rpm
and when it completes look in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386 (default) for the
binary. This builds a binary RPM *EXACTLY* configured for the set of
libraries on your system. Think of it as building from the .tar.gz file,
only better... :-)
