This is of course true. But
1) it's not fully open-source yet; SAP has a roadmap for the process of
open-sourceing SAPdb; by May everything including the db kernel will be
O. S.
2) it has Python bindings, but these are for now binary-only and for
Python 1.5.2
3) the Python bindings are not DB-API compliant but "something
completely different"
Nevertheless, this db will sure be a good alternative to PostgreSQL,
Interbase and MySQL. SAP forked it from the Adabas database in the early
90s, btw.
