NewBie: How Can I Scan The Keyboard In Python?

Hello All,
	Is there a way to scan the keyboard to watch for a key
closure?  I have a function that runs in a infinite loop.  I want to
brake out of the loop when the space bar is hit.  Is there a way to do
this in Python?  I’m looking for something like Qbasic’s “Inkey$”
function.
