frame grabber

Hi,

I working on a frame grabber that I would like to control from within Python.
I have a Flyvideo98 framegrabber that is currently working with the bttv
drivers (in Linux). How do I open and collect frames from the driver? Can I
just open the driver (/dev/bttv or /dev/video0) and read x*y bytes? Any help
would be appriciated.
