two questions - sockets / c functions

Hello -
I am learning python, and I like what I see so far.

Is it possible to use sockets with python, so that I may write client/server
code?  If so, where can I find more information?

Is it possible to use c functions within python?  For example, openbsd has a
function arc4random().  How could I use this in python?
