[Q] how to use IDLE in linux

What's your linux distribution?
If you have a Debian Woody, you should installed also the pack idle-Python2.2
and idle.
That's not a part of the standard python package.

Anyway, to run idle, you should use 'idle-python2.2' command or something like
this instead of just 'idle'.
