Thanks for the kind words and assistance. 

Your message helped a lot. It's funny, I wasn't able to get it working
at first, but when I combined your code with some of the code from the
other person who responded, bing bang boom! it works! I still need to
work some things out, but that's fine. I'm getting so much more Python
education from this little exercise than I could ever have imagined.

And it's fun to boot!
