Glueing Python with other languages

I am having trouble using Python as a glue with other languages. I 
can't seem to find any simple examples to show how to go about this. 
Would any of you be able to show me how to write a simple program 
that glues some C++ and Python together? This would be great because 
some of the things I have found on this topic were not well 
documented and hard to follow.
