ActiveState has no interest in either forking or polluting Python. Yes,
we do install extra modules with Python. That's why many people prefer
our distribution. But adding modules is hardly a "fork".

Someone has just pointed out that we have a single minor incompatibility
with sourceforge Python and we will fix that in the next week. Where
ActiveState's distribution of Python behaves differently from the one in
SourceForge, there is no question that the SourceForge version is
correct. That's why we've put a lot of effort into the creation of an
organization (the PSF) that will guarantee that Python has a single,
united home with clear, community-based IP ownership.
