I was just reading a copy of Science from March 2, 2001.
P. 1744 says:

   For most of the 20th century, the fields of genetics,
   linguistics, and archeology evolved in parallel, and only
   in the past 15 years has a substantial change, referred
   to as the "Emerging Synthesis" ... been attempted.

So I'm only 8 weeks late in learning that I'm 15 years
behind the times :)
