Creating superset of list objects?

I've made many private additions to 'Objects/listobject.c', and I now want to
move them into its own module.  Can anyone give me pointers as to how I can
create a superset of regular list?

I don't have sufficient understanding of "big picture" to write stand-alone
module which defines new objects.  Roughly, I want to simply rename
'listobject.c' to 'mylistobject.c' (rename things inside the file as well),
and...
