Very! What with Infozip's excellent free offerings, I know
of no platform where Python runs and zip/unzip doesn't.

Depends on your parameters for 'better', I guess. There
may be approaches which lead to higher compression ratios,
for example. But if that's not a make-or-break issue,
Zip seems an excellent choice to me.
