CD-ROM access on NON-SGI systems?

Hi,

I know about the "eject" command, but I also need to be able to tell
whether the CD tray is ejected, or whether it it closed with a disc
in it from within the program.

Actually, I'm quite surprised that this functionality hasn't been 
addressed in Python yet.
