ummmm, self promotion?  How so?  and you wrote a program that issues a 
ping?  Isn't that just a standard system call or did I get a super spiffed 
out copy of Linux???

Krister, what exactly are you trying to accomplish with the ping?  What 
kind of results are you trying to store?
