.readline() - VERY SLOW compared to PERL

Hi there,

is there any replacement(/extension for teh file.readline method?

Compared to Perl it is extremely slow. Searching a key in an 100.000 line
ASCII file
takes 15 seconds. Perl just needs 5 seconds!

There exists a module called QIO. Anyone head of it?
