Case-sensitivity: why -- or why not? (was Re: Damnation!)

One alternative comes to mind: the language is case-sensitive, but doesn't
allow symbols that would be duplicates if it were not.

I personally prefer case-sensitivity, but that doesn't keep me from thinking :)-
