Despite the technical quibbling, Robin has a good point about
network installation. As python penetrates more into corporate
and government environments, I think a network install option
is becoming a neccessity. I have my own hack to do this:

But we really need an installer-savvy person to add:
   "Install to network"
   "Install client - run from network"
options to the official python installation program
