Which line, exactly, did you add to your .emacs file? Also, did you amend your .emacs file inside the emacs that you used to test the loading of python-mode? In that case, you will probably need to execute the command M-x execute-buffer in the .emacs buffer beforehand. (Or try it in a new emacs, which loads the amended .emacs for you.) Alex.
