Case-sensitivity? Hal says "No" ;-)

In the course of getting into TCL[1], I came across a tutorial by Hal
Abelson, Philip Greenspun, and Lydia Sandon[1] (yes, *the* Hal Abelson
of SICP fame). And in this I came across this quote:

The great case-sensitivity winter descended upon humankind in 1970
  with the Unix operating system.

Just for the record, I'm *for* case-sensitivity (I'm an old Modula-2
hand...) I just thought this funny in the context of the ongoing
flamewar^Wdiscussion ;-)

Bye, J

[1] The document is `Tcl for Web Nerds', at

[2] Don't ask... ok, if you insist: the company I'll start working for
soonish (if all goes well) has decided upon using NPS4, a
`content-management system' (no URL from me, it's proprietary). And
this thing is only scriptable in TCL (it seems).[2]

[3] To avoid any flames: I'm heavily lobbying for Python, and I sure
won't stop (Perl, PHP, TCL (ewww) and Java (*blorg*) are pretty well
established though (Java has been decreed from `on high'))

But I'm the new, unproven guy on the block, so it's not that
easy... wish me luck (it's a rather largish, and by nature pretty
conservative company... but at least they're using Linux in a major
way (for servers, of course))
