informixdb

I tried to build and install informixdb 1.3 for SunOS 5.7.
Well it ... kind of worked.
When I try to import informixdb.py, I get the error

"ImportError: Cannot locate C core module for informix db interface."

_informixdb.so is installed, together with informixdb.py, in the
site-packages dir. What went wrong?

Furthermore, is there any documentation available on how to use the
python DB-API?
