JPython Threading module fully free-threaded???

As JPython is implemented in Java, does anyone know if JPython's
Threading module is fully free-threaded?

My Python programming for Win32 says Python's Threading is not as it
maintains an internal lock that prevents more that one thread being
inside the interpreter at any one time. I just wondered if JPython was
different.

Any information appreciated.
