Just my 17 öre (Swedish equivalent of 2 cents):
I could live with eq and ne, but I really think == and <> are more 
readable. I've gotten used to !=, but I prefer <>. On the other hand, 
if what I am comparing isn't numbers, then != makes more sense than <>.
